Job Details The Men’s Support and Diversionary Scheme is an exciting new service delivered by Humankind across North Yorkshire and York. The service is funded by the North Yorkshire Police Fire & Crime Commissioner, on the basis that male service users who are at risk of or are within the criminal justice system require a bespoke service to respond appropriately to their needs. The service will be delivering evidence-based, structured interventions to males aged 18 to 25, who are at risk of offending or have committed an offence. The post holders will work closely with North Yorkshire Police, Liaison and Diversion Services, Substance Misuse Services, Probation and other partner agencies. Our service aims are to:
Increase the quality and effectiveness of services for male service users Increase the number of those desisting from offending Prevent individuals from entering the Criminal Justice System Lead to improved positive outcomes for male service users and their families
Main duties and responsibilities:
To provide one to one needs assessments and ongoing support for men who have been referred by North Yorkshire Police, Probation, Housing providers, Liaison and Diversion Teams and partner agencies. To offer preventative initiatives tailored to the individual needs of men, to prevent and reduce offending To promote the development of the Men’s Specific Groups within the North Yorkshire area. To action referrals and feedback information as appropriate within agreed timescales To provide written reports for Court, child protection case conferences, MAPPA’s, MARAC’s etc. To continually assess the males needs, deliver interventions and refer onto appropriate services. To maintain up to date accurate client records including contact notes, risk assessments, care plans and care plan reviews. To provide a trauma informed approach. To encourage engagement and to provide assertive outreach to clients who are unable to access community venues To ensure that all contractual obligations are met at an operational level To support and develop Peer Mentor Apprentices and Volunteers To liaise with the referring agency on clients attendance and give appropriate information regarding the clients progress Work with the Team Leader and Area Manager to provide the long term sustainability of the Men’s Support and Diversionary Scheme Actively develop relations with Police, Liaison & Diversion, HM Courts, Probation, Housing, Community Agencies and HM Prisons ensuring robust engagement, referral protocols and care pathways are in place ensuring they receive appropriate support. To support information sharing and shared process between partner agencies and all relevant partners to support service users. Carry out risk assessments, demonstrating effective actions and interventions are delivered and advice provided to minimise the risk/s identified, and contribute to the development and implementation of motivational individual care plan Offer a flexible service across the locality in partnership with Health, Social Care, Criminal Justice and concerned others. Comply with all monitoring and evaluation systems, collect, and monitor information as appropriate and provide reports when required and actively contribute to achieving successful outcomes for service users Maintain accurate, up to date records and work in accordance with organisational guidelines and procedures To work with Mentors and Volunteers to provide advocacy/support to service users and foster a culture of peer support, leadership and family inclusion Provide information within accordance to the confidentiality policy to the team involved with individuals to ensure a holistic approach Actively participate in supervision and be willing to personally reflect on interpersonal dynamics within the therapeutic relationship and provide evidence of achieving performance targets alongside other supervision requirements as detailed in Humankind policy The post holder will be required to work flexibly across operational sites and within an agreed number of hours to maintain the most appropriate level of service provision. This may include evening and weekend working Provide a full range of services in an outreach and in-reach capacity including satellites offices and in partnership with others

Experience of working with disadvantaged/vulnerable people Ability to carry out of assessment (initial and comprehensive) and care planning as motivational tools and to conduct risk assessments and develop risk management plans Knowledge and understanding of Criminal Justice services, statutory orders and interventions Knowledge and understanding of the issues facing those within the criminal justice system Ability to keep accurate case notes and write reports Ability to communicate confidently and effectively Employ a mature, sympathetic, non-judgemental attitude towards our Service Users and their families Ability to respond flexibly to the demands of the post and to work on own initiative Full driving license or willingness to commute
Person Specification – Desirable criteria:
NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care or above or equivalent
